Somaliland house of representatives has unanimously approved the last three members of the national political association vetting and registration committee. The announcement was made by the speaker on monday.
56 Lawmakers were present at the session to take part in the voting process after president Muse Bihi requested again for the completion of the members. The house approved the four other members last month but accused these last three members for being close to the ruling party therefore they can not be neutral on their duties.
Last month a fracas ensued in the Somaliland house of representatives and MPs exchanged blows and kicks over the approval of the national political association vetting and registration committee who were appointed by the President in December.
The registration of new political parties is expected to start next month in Somaliland while the Presidential election is expected to take place on November 13. Government and opposition are yet to decide which election will be first conducted in the country; the presidential or the political party association elections.
