The house of representatives speaker of Somaliland, Abdirizak Khalif has found fault with President Muse Bihi for allegedly destroying every positive effort to make peace plans and bring the warring sides together in a peaceful manner. An accusation President Bihi and his administration have yet to establish a response to.
The Speaker revealed that all his recommendations for possible ways to end the conflict in LasAnod city to the President fell on deaf ears while expressing displeasure at Bihi’s administration to label local fighters as “terrorist groups.”
He noted the military use exacerbated the volatile situation and President Bihi decided to not relocate the army forces to nearby locations in order to keep distance between the two warring sides to achieve a bilateral ceasefire.
The Speaker who has been in LasAnod since the clashes started on February 6, to de-escalate tension blamed the government for issuing numerous statements fanning the flames of the situation, referring to the Minister of foreign affairs’s interview with the BBC.
Abdikarizak Khalif believes that the solution is for the President to endorse whatever suggested by the clan leaders and intellectuals of Sool region towards the status quo to prevent any further suffering.
