

Somaliland interior minister Mohamed Kahin, who has been in Lasanod city for the past few days, has met with the city council members and other senior regional officials. The ministry said they discussed the current security situation in the region.
According to the ministry, the two sides were more concerned about the deteriorating security in the region though they didn’t comment on the ongoing mass expulsion in lasanod by the country’s security forces.
Somaliland Security forces started deportation of hundreds of people who are originally from Somalia in Las’anod on Saturday citing security concerns in the area.
The federal government of Somalia condemned the action and said it was “unfortunate” Somaliland made such decisions. Initial reports say, Hundreds of people who were evicted from Las-Anod have safely arrived in Mudug and Nugal regions of Puntland state of Somalia aboard lorry trucks and accused Somaliland government for not giving them notice before expulsion.
