

The vice president of Somaliland Abdirahman Saylici, accompanied by some of his cabinet ministers and other foreign diplomats have today jointly launched the National botanic garden at Geed Deeble in Hargeisa. The garden will contain important collections of plant species from the country and beyond.
Officials said the implementation of this project took them 10 years and they intended to. create awareness on environmental conservation as well as create a public place where everyone can spend his leisure time.
In his remarks, the vice president of Somaliland Abdirahman Saylici stated that this is the third place to be implemented in the horn of Africa. He also expressed optimism that Somaliland would lead in having a better and clean environment in the region in years to come.
The main function of a botanical garden is to allow the public to see and learn more about the various plants in their scientific and vernacular names.
