The main opposition party of Somaliland (Waddani) today held large gatherings across the country for its local council and house of representative election campaigns.
Thousands of Waddani party supporters with their Local council and house of representive candidates assembled at various public spaces across the country. Most of them were seen holding the flag of the party, the banners of their favourite candidates as well as their electoral symbols.
Waddani Party which is the junior party of the three national parties in Somaliland wants to dominate the upcoming local council and house of representative seats and compete with its rival political party; Kulmiye.
Abdirahman Irro, the Chairman of Waddani party who is also running for the forthcoming Presidential election participated in the rallies held at the Hargeisa Freedom Park. In his campaign message he said that voting for Waddani Party Candidates is voting for having strong institutions and development in the country.
The chairman urged his supporters to come out in peace and vote for change. Abdirahman Irro described as “Embarrassing” that the ruling party wants votes from the public while the nation is still struggling with their negligence. He added that another vote for Kulmiye is another loss for Somaliland.
“ Kulmiye said during our last Presidential Election that you will regret your votes. Do you want to regret your votes again? Do you want to make that wrong decision? Then give a strong response to them and vote for Waddani Party.” said the chairman.
On 31 May, Somaliland people will cast their votes for their favourite candidates for the local council and parliamentary elections. The campaign elections will also last for a period of six days whereby each party has two days to perform campaigns in Public.
