

As the political tension between Somaliland government and opposition parties heats up over the upcoming elections and protests called by the opposition parties, Maroodijeeh regional authorities have warned the opposition not to hold what they have termed as “Illegal” protests in the region.
In a Press conference on Monday, The Deputy Governor of Maroodijeeh Khadar Baaruud noted that the regional authorities will not accept “Illegal” protests to take place in the region since they are not authorized by the interior minister.
The official’s statement came a few hours after the Chairman of Somaliland’s UCID party, Feisal Ali Waraabe reiterated their commitment to hold nationwide protests and that its preparations are in the final stages. The oppositions demand the Presidential election to take place on 13 November 2022.
