

The Somaliland Military court has sentenced Ahmed Abdi Abdillahi, a naval officer to death in connection for the murder of his commander, Khadar Habeeb in Lawya-Addo on wednesday. The motive of the killing is yet unclear.
The Murder of Khadar Habeeb sparked protests in Awdal region as the protesters demanded justice for Habeeb and called for the officer responsible to be held accountable as the situation escalated when demonstrators blocked the road connecting Dilla and Boorama. but, later security forces restored the normalcy.
The court order came after calls from the family and clan elders of the victim, who appealed to the government to ensure justice is served and threatened that the burial of the body of the victim will not occur until the perpetrator is executed.
The soldier who committed the crime and the soldier who was killed were both members of Somaliland coast guard. However, security forces immediately apprehended the officer responsible for the crime after he attempted to escape from the region.
