Somaliland’s minister of interior Mohamed Kaahin has spoken on the killing of Jama Hussein Toor who was allegedly shot dead by the bodyguards of the Sanaag Governor and condoled the family for the loss of their loved one.
The government said security agencies officially launched an investigation related to the crime while urging the people for peace and avoid insecurity activities. The minister also asked the traditional elders to bury the body which was stored in the mortuary fridge.
The administration did not provide further details about the killing that led to the protests of hundreds of people in Erigavo on Wednesday which left 7 wounded including police officers. The demonstrators were demanding the government to immediately bring the perpetrators to court to face the charges against them.
The city is calm today and there are no protests as the locals wait for the next decisions of the government regarding the matter.
