Somaliland MP, Barkhad Jama Batun has accused President Muse Bihi of meddling with the house of representatives. In a press briefing, the MP revealed secret meetings hosted by the President at the Presidency to incite chaos in Parliament.
Barkhad warned the President that if he does not keep distance from the house’s affairs, the members of the house will oppose his Presidency. Explaining the chaos that erupted in the parliament, he described it as a “Misfortune act” that damaged the reputation of the country. He told the police forces to not ever enter the house premises without the permission of the chairmanship of the parliament.
Somaliland’s parliament session was suspended on monday after a majority of the ruling party Mps boycotted to attend the venue. The house of representatives were expected to debate the Political association law which the President returned to Parliament for amendments.
Somaliland minister of information Saleban Ali Koore announced on Saturday that the political association law is effective yet the Parliament is disputing the enforcement of this law. Opposition parties rejected the announcement and blamed the government for “Breaching” the constitution.
