Somaliland Lawmaker, Mohamed Abib has in strong terms criticized the growing assassinations against government officials, oppositions and business community in Lasanod, blaming the government for “negligence” towards the security of the region.
He seeks answers from the government’s security agencies to provide comprehensive reports to the public addressing who plots these increasing assassinations and why the planned assassinations only happen in Lasanod as the other major cities enjoy peace.
Mohamed Abib condemned suppression of protests by government forces and described the move as a barbaric act. He recounted that the Somaliland government expelled hundreds of Somali origins from the region citing security concerns, yet many assassinations cases were reported after the deportation.
Meanwhile, the MP asked the house of representatives Speaker, Abdirizak Khalif who hails from the region to call the house members for a special session to debate on the matter and to announce a committee to probe the growing assassination cases in the city.
