Somaliland MP Mohamed Raambo thanked Gavin Williamson, a member of the UK’s House of Commons for tabling the case of Somaliland before the House today. The MP said that Somaliland parliament is closely following the debate and has much respect for the UK’s house of commons to debate on Somaliland’s recognition.
The MP stated that Somaliland has fulfilled all statehood requirements and now it’s time for the international community to consider Somaliland’s right to be an internationally recognized state.
He also revealed the continuing role of Somaliland’s diaspora played this nation to be a member of the United Nations anytime soon. Debates over Somaliland’s recognition have been repeated in the UK parliament on several occasions, with municipalities in Sheffield, Cardiff and Birmingham already recognizing Somaliland as an independent state.
