Somaliland National electoral commission has held a meeting today with the three national political parties over the upcoming voter registration process which will start at the end of this year.
Meanwhile, the recently registered political associations were not invited to the meeting. It’s unclear if the National electoral commision insist on holding the Presidential election as it announced on September 24.
Khadar Hussein Abdi, the Secretary General of Waddani party declined to answer if they had discussed the election sequencing with the electoral commission and said in a short statement that they will end their poll dispute.
On Sunday, President Muse Bihi announced that the voter registration process will officially commence on 28 December. However, the election sequencing remains unsolved as the opposition parties desire the Presidential election to be held first while President Bihi favors for the political parties and associations’ election to lead all other ballots.
