At Least one person was confirmed dead and two others wounded after a residential house collapsed in Daaroole of Berbera, despite the authorities have not yet provided further details on what caused the house to crush, residents believe the old age of the house could be the greatest cause of its destruction.
The fire brigade and residents arrived at the scene to evacuate the victims and reported they have rescued two people alive; one with minor injuries while the other one is in critical condition.
Witnesses described the incident as a tragedy and stated that the person who died was an old woman and the two others were among her family members.
This coastal city experienced similar challenges in the past and claimed the lives of many people as many houses in the city are old with ancient design structures. Residents recommend people to be careful of old houses with cracks for safety reasons.
