Somaliland opposition parties have formally announced a joint committee to probe “Police brutality” over the protests by the opposition on Thursday. The 9 members committee including lawmakers, senior opposition figures, local councilors and a lawyer will handle the case and eventually expected to share their findings with the public.
However, the opposition parties have not officially clarified how long it will take for the committee to present its preliminary report for the public. They believe the police had used excessive force against peaceful demonstrators on thursday.
According to the president, five people were killed in the clash but the opposition believe the number is higher than that and at least 7 unarmed civilians were killed as the chairman of UCID party revealed on saturday.
The opposition said the protests will continue until the presidential election is held on 13th November 2022 and denounced other ballots to come first before the presidential election.
