Somaliland police are sending a warning to the public to refrain from crossing dry rivers and dams as the rainy season has started in some regions of the country. The warning comes after the Hargeisa fire brigade rescued several people on Monday from the flood.
A number of people including children have lost their lives for attempting to cross dry rivers or swimming dams during the rainy season in Somaliland. Drivers were also urged to not risk the lives of their passengers and wait until floods recede.
Police are worried by these recurrent incidents and appealing to the public to avoid the danger of getting into flooded rivers and dams. Parents are also warned and urged to look after their children especially now that schools are still open as more heavy rain is expected.
