Somaliland President Muse Bihi has attended a groundbreaking ceremony of the Hargeisa BYPASS which is intended to provide an alternative route and minimise traffic jams in the city. Government officials and other Foreign diplomats were also present at the ceremony.
President Bihi accentuated the importance of the road for economic development in Somaliland and the region. He also challenged the business tycoons to take part in the road developments.
In her remarks, the UK’s ambassador to Somalia Kate Foster who arrived in Hargeisa on Monday described the project in which the UK itself engaged in as “an important mark”. She noted that the regional states will also benefit from it.
The consruction of the road is expected to be completed by the end of the year 2021.
