Somaliland President Muse Bihi spoke for the first time concerning his administration deporting thousands of people mainly from Somalia in lasanod. He stated that some people misinterpreted the exercise and defended the security forces for having made such choices.
President Bihi said these targeted people were refugees and they decided to deport them to their homeland peacefully. Responding to statements made by the federal and regional officials, accusing Somaliland of violating human rights, he said that his government provided the deportees with food, medicine and pocket money before they left the country.
Meanwhile, President Bihi slammed the puntland state of Somalia saying that it has a history of killing civilians in its territory, unlike Somaliland where no civilian has ever been unjustly killed by the government forces.
The President also found fault with the United Nations office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs report on this matter. He revealed it was a shame for OCHA to just issue a report while they failed to provide humanitarian aid to these people during their long years stay in the country.
