The president of the Republic of Somaliland, His Excellency Muse Bihi Abdi, led a high-powered delegation from Somaliland to Saudi Arabia following an official invitation from His Majesty King Salman Bin Abdul Aziz. The delegation left Somaliland for Saudi Arabia on Wednesday 7 August 2019.
All the members of the delegation left the shores of the country on Somaliland diplomatic passports, casting aside the foreign passports which some them had.
The King sent the Somaliland delegation a private jet to collect them from Egal International Airport in Hargeisa and fly them directly to the Kingdom.
The President, according to a statement issued by the Presidency, would meet His Majesty King Salman, high members of his government, and the royal family right after the completion of the Hajj obligation, which would constitute the first leg of the President’s visit to the Kingdom.
While there, President Bihi will also take advantage of the opportunity to meet other heads of states from the Islamic world with whom he and his delegation will brief them on Somaliland affairs.
The Ministers of Interior; Mohamed Kahin, Religious Affairs; Khalil Abdullahi Yusuf, and Public Works; Abdirashid Du’ale, and the Special Advisor to the President; Ali Waran’adde, accompanied the president on this trip. Abdirahman Abdullahi Ismail, the Vice President, saw them off to the airport.
