The President of the Republic of Somaliland, Muuse Biixi Abdi, on Monday led the nation by arriving early at a polling station to cast his vote for the house of representatives and local council elections
The president who described the election as peaceful asked the nation to come out in large numbers and vote just like they did during the campaign period. He said that Somaliland must set precedence to the world.
“ As the electoral commission chairman told us The election started peacefully across the country today morning. My message to the public is that they should cast their ballots peacefully. These are two combined important elections for local council and house of the representatives. The world is watching us.” Said the President
Meanwhile, the chairman of the national opposition party Waddani, Dr Cabdiraxmaan Maxamed Cabdilaahi (Cirro) and his wife Farduus Maxamed Rooble, have voted in the office of government civil service in Hargesia. Waddani chairman also advised somalilanders to vote peacefully.
“ I have cast my vote to elect my two favourite candidates. Though it’s still early hours, no challenges have been reported so far. Some of the polling stations have reported to be a little bit delayed. However there are no big problems that can be mentioned so far” said Cirro
The Chairman of UID political party, Eng. Faysal Cali Waraabe has also cast his vote at the center of the house of workers where he had already registered.While speaking to the media at the polling station where he cast his vote, he adviced the voters urging them to strengthen the peace and security during the election exercise.
