SOMALILAND.COM – Somaliland’s president Muse Bihi Abdi today once again pledged to resolve the deadlock over the overdue local and parliamentary elections.
The president minimized the essence of the dispute over the National Elections Commission saying it was as small as a toothpick. He emphasized the national consensus over the importance of holding elections this year.
President Bihi said the country and its constitution should not perish over an issue small as the electoral commission. He called on all parties to work on ensuring a popular vote in the country to preserve the constitution, the nation’s existence and development.
The president was speaking at a function to celebrating the twenty-sixth anniversary of the inception of Somaliland’s army.
The president had in the past made similar remarks minimizing the dispute of the electoral commission and vowed to immediately resolve them. Today as in the previous occasions, he did not announce tangible steps to breaking the electoral impasse.
