

The newly elected Somaliland house of representatives is expected to have the first sitting anytime soon as the race for the speakership between the national political parties heats up.
Somaliland Ruling party( Kulmiye) and a defected wing from the opposition party UCID made a formal public statement on a new political alliance over the speakership of the house of representatives’ race.
The two sides endorsed Yasin Mohamed Faraton; the former Somaliland foreign Minister, to run for the Speakership of the house While Sacid Mire Farah (Giirre) to be the first deputy Chairman. They also selected Abdinasir Qodah; who has long been the right hand man of UCID party’s leader, as the second deputy chairman.
Opposition parties secured majority seats of the recently concluded house of representatives election and pledged to win the speakership of the house. Waddani and UCID had previously announced a similar alliance and endorsed Abdirizak Khalif for the speakership.
