

Somaliland’s government on Monday announced the arrival of 30,000 doses of the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine from the international COVAX vaccine initiative. The Inoculations could start anytime soon.
This is the third batch to arrive in the horn of africa state since the outbreak of the pandemic. Thousands of people are expected to receive doses including frontline workers and members of other vulnerable groups.
Somaliland ministry of health extended gratitude to the french government for delivering this support to the Somaliland people. Officials said they have more plans to mitigate the pandemic from spreading in the country.
In May last year, Somaliland government reported the first two cases of coronavirus after two men tested positive. A while after, the country imposed covid-19 restrictions until the situation turned into normalcy.
