Somaliland government said an armed militia has attacked the Somaliland military base in LasAnod on the second day. In a report released by the interior ministry, the attack started at 5:30 AM local time.
Somaliland believes that terrorist members are among the armed militia who have a hidden agenda to own shelter in LasAnod city. The government also said in the statement, Somalia’s Puntland is also endorsing the attack by sending troops to the region.
The interior ministry clarified that the Somaliland army is still the stage of defense and the army was not directed to wage attacks. A similar incident happened yesterday where casualties on both sides were reported.
Somaliland opposition leaders and some clan elders have called on all warring sides to be calm and end the conflict through dialogue and peace talks.
