Somaliland says Somalia shares misinformation regarding present situation in Las Anod

In a press release issued by the Somaliland foreign affairs ministry, the government firmly rejects the claims by Somalia’s Puntland state which Somaliland accused iof spreading “Misinformation” that incites violence in Las Anod.

Somaliland believes these statements made by Somalia officials are adding fuel to the fire, in particular the present situation of Las Anod where there have been successive demonstrations in the last five days. The statement added, Somaliland will not tolerate any threats to its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

The statement said, over the years, joint efforts by the Somaliland security forces and intelligence agencies have identified that individuals responsible for the targeted assassinations were carried out by members of Alshabab. It also underlined the government’s efforts to eradicate the recurrent assassinations in the region.

Key ministries are in Las Anod in the last few days to control the situation and engage in meetings with the residents after many people gathered on the streets to demand justice for their loved ones and the government to bring perpetrators to justice imminently.
