The Criminal Investigation department of Somaliland summoned the chairman of WADDANI party Hirsi Ali Hajji Hassan in what his party said was an attempt to destruct freedom of speech and political rights.
After spending almost two hours in the closed doors of the CID headquarters in Hargeisa, the Chairman addressed local media and revealed that he was summoned on issues related to his recent speech in which he alleged the President for breaching the constitution.
Hirsi said the step taken by the government would further damage freedom of speech and underscored they will not stop telling the public about the government’s unconstitutional acts. Recounting the questions he was asked, he stated that the CID demanded him to give answers on his accusation that President Bihi has a foreign passport and is not eligible to run for office.
The Chairman reiterates his allegation that the President has a Djibouti passport and the law forbids a citizen with a foreign passport to run for presidency. Last week, Hirsi stated if Bihi maintains inciting constitutional crises he would lose immunity and will not be considered as President.
