Traditional leaders from Somalia have arrived today in Hargeisa, Somaliland to find a peaceful solution over the ongoing conflict in LasAnod where there has been fighting between Somaliland security forces and local armed militia for the last three months.
Their Somaliland counterparts have welcomed them at the airport, even though the Private media was banned from meeting the traditional elders at the airport. However, Sultan Hassan, A Somaliland traditional leader, noted the two sides will have a meeting shortly.
The visiting traditional leaders also made a similar visit to LasAnod in March and engaged in talks with their local counterparts regarding finding a peaceful solution to LasAnod turmoil which claimed many lives and loss of properties.
Somaliland authorities clarified on several occasions its readiness to welcome whoever intends to make peace in LasAnod and pledged to collaborate with them as the LasAnod issue remains the greatest significance of Somaliland national agenda.
