Barely a few hours after Somalia President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud told the Turkey and Norway representatives about his commitment to resume talks with Somaliland, the President of Somaliland Muse Bihi has made a similar announcement but placed conditions for the talks to start.
Somaliland said the talks should find a two state solution and there must be an international mediation mechanism that could take the responsibility of the implementation for the agreements reached by the two sides.
In a statement, Somaliland Presidency has made it a condition for Somalia to respect the previous agreements and should deliver them in order to gain confidence on both sides. Also, Somaliland seeks clear agendas that are central to the conflict between the two sides to be among the talks.
The separate consecutive statements from the head of states could interpret that there are possibilities for the two countries to come to the negotiation table together again in the following months.
