Somaliland’s Garhajis clan has issued a communique on Sunday about the strained situation in LasAnod where there has been an armed conflict between the Somaliland army and local militia for the last two weeks, calling for all sides to immediately stop violence.
However, the clan firmly declined to be part of the traditional mediation committee that President Bihi recently declared to send them to LasAnod in order to sit with their counterparts of the city to achieve peaceful resolution.
The Clan chiefs clarified for the public that they do not have “confidence” in President Bihi if he will accept the decisions the traditional mediation committee will make regarding the armed conflict in LasAnod city.
Meanwhile, Their communique puts all the blame of what is going on in LasAnod on President Bihi and recommended the government to relocate its forces to a place which is not close to the armed militia for the purpose of de-escalating tension.
