As thousands of people living in Somaliland face starvation and water shortage due to the drought , Telesom company has announced the donation of 1,500 water tanks to help the affected communities.
The corporate communication and social responsibility director, Abdiwahab Maah, accentuated that communities affected by the drought urgently need water. It is for this reason that the company decided to take part in the efforts being made to support them.
He expressed optimism that this would play a significant role in mitigating the adverse effects of the drought. He also urged other able members of the public to follow suit. The hike in fuel prices has had an negative impact on all other basic needs including the price of water thus leading to people suffering especially the less fortunate members of the society.
At the beginning of this year, Somaliland government announced a technical committee drawn from various government institutions to tackle this widespread disaster and called on the public to take part in efforts to extend support to those affected by the drought. Somaliland government affirmed it had allocated 3 million dollars to tackle this problem.
