Somaliland’s UCID party chairman congratulates new president elect of Somalia

The chairman of UCID party of Somaliland Feisal Ali Warabe has congratulated Somalia’s president elect Hassan Sheikh Mohamud on his reelection. He expressed optimism that the new president could rebuild trust between Somaliland and Somalia.

Feisal criticized the outgoing president Mohamed Abdullahi Farmajo for inciting political hypocrisy between Somaliland and Somalia. He accused him of dictatorship who liked to stay in power for long without holding elections.

Meanwhile, the chairman advised the new president elect to revisit his past political mistakes that he committed during his tenure between 2012 – 2017. He said Hassan Sheikh should consider the Somaliland case as a sovereign state.

He urged him to immediately fulfill all agreements reached by the two states as his predecessor deliberately ignored them. Feisal emphasized that Somaliland will ever remain in its position to be a sovereign state from Somalia.
