Somaliland’s Wadani Party Appoints Committee for Lasanod Unrest

The Chairman of Wadani party, Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan, in a press release statement on 5 march appointed a committee on the situation of Lasanod City, to seek peace and assess the conflict, to obtain complete and detailed information about the situation.

The chairman stated that after studying Article 30 of the National Party’s Law, Article 9 of the Constitution of the Republic of Somaliland, considering the state in the city of Lasacanod, and consulting stakeholders, he was confidence that selected officials can make a real assessment of the situation of Sool region, especially the the administrative city.

Hirsi Ali Haji Hassan stated he believes that any political disputes that arise should be resolved through peaceful means of dialogue, which he said is the Wadani party’s position.

The 7 member committee include, Abdilqadir Haji Ismail Jirde as the Chairman of the Committee and other officials of Wadani Party including the secretary general, Khadar Hussein Abdi, The deputy secretary general Jamal Jama Hamud, The secretary of Internal affairs Mohamed Farah Abdi, and the Secretary of humanitarian affairs Maryam mohamud Dirir.

Earlier, the Somaliland house of representatives appointed 11-Member committee to make an assessment about the strained situation in LasAnod where Somaliland security forces and armed militia have been fighting for almost a month now.
