The deputy secretary of commerce of Waddani party blamed the government over the rising fuel prices in the country and for not addressing the issue. Elaborating his thoughts on the fuel price hike he referred to Trafigura Company that has been given a quota by the government to import the fuel.
He underscored that family members of President Muse Bihi have links with this company. The Waddani official identified Trafigura as a very corrupt company and asked the government to reconsider its case.
The Opposition party figure recounted that the Somaliland constitution favours the free market and outlaws the quota system. He alleged the company was importing fuel at high prices which the average community can not afford.
Members of the public have been calling on the government in the past few days to roll back or reduce the recent fuel price increase and have demanded that the government institutions react as soon as possible before the problem escalates.
