The Presidential nominee and former Chairman of WADDANI party in Somaliland Abdirahman Irro received at his office the newly elected Chairman Hirsi Ali Hajji Hassan. It was a moment where Abdirahman Irro officially handed over the office to his successor.
No statement was made by the two leaders, but, in their last remarks of the convention, they emphasised on changing the country’s political landscape. Hirsi had pledged to give much attention to women, youth and marginalised communities’ participation in the party.
Waddani party officials elected Hirsi Ali Hajji Hassan on Tuesday as the new chairman of the party after he has long served as the leader of the party. His victory was not unanticipated but it became clear when the former chairman Abdirahman Irro withdrew from the race to pave the way for Hirsi to be the next chairman.
