Somaliland has been mired in economic crises as the fuel and electricity bills rise in recent months. Taxi drivers in Hargeisa have expressed deep concern about the rising fuel prices and urged the government to immediately intervene.
Expressing their thoughts, the taxi drivers described as “misfortune” the government’s failure to handle the rising prices and private companies “deliberately” ignoring the order of the government.
Somaliland’s interior minister and some of the electricity companies held a meeting on Tuesday to resolve the public anger over the rising electricity bills. They agreed to meet on Saturday to reach the final agreement and the decision of the electricity companies to increase electricity bills will not take effect until the next meeting.
