In response to the latest address by the Somaliland President Muse Bihi on Thursday’s protests, the chairman of Waddani party Hirsi Ali H. Hassan said Bihi did not behave as a statesman during his latest speech, and found fault with him for declining to apologize for “violations” against peaceful demonstrators by the police.
In a press briefing on Sunday, Hirsi accentuated that president Bihi wasted most of his time in the latest speech attacking him and deliberately showing dissatisfaction of why the Waddani party officials to elected him as the chairman instead of sharing the sorrow with the families and friends who lost their loved ones during Thursday’s protests.
The chairman of the largest opposition party accused Bihi of being a leader against the country’s democracy, underlining the opposition will no longer consider him as a legitimate leader after 13th November if he fails to hold the presidential election.
Bihi and Hirsi who were once in the same party, Kulmiye have been political enemies for at least the last 7 years. Hirsi was very much against Bihi becoming the Chairman of Kulmiye, a controversy that caused him to finally resign as minister and defects to the opposition. The duo now leads the largest two political parties in Somaliland.
