At Least two children have been confirmed dead after fire broke out at their residential house in Hargeisa. The cause of the fire is yet unknown, but the fire brigade said the police are currently investigating the incident.
The wounded were immediately rushed to hospital for treatment. According to the Hargeisa Fire brigade, they evacuated four children and a man who is mentaly ill from the tragedy.
Initial reports say the children belong to a Somaliland soldier who was on duty by the time the incident happened. The country’s fire brigade chief blamed drivers ignoring the alert of the emergency team during the rescue.
The Mayor of Hargeisa Abdikarim Ahmed Mooge also described as “intolerable” for residents to block roads and pledged he will take action to clear it permanently.
In March of this year, At least 49 people were injured when a fire broke out at an Islamic learning center in Hargeisa. The wounded include 40 women and eight men as well as a firefighter.
