At Least two people have been confirmed dead in a car accident in Arabsiyo district which is in the outskirts of Hargeisa city. Two others were also injured in the accident. Regional authorities have not yet disclosed the identities of the victims to the public.
Initial reports say the accident happened after the driver inadvertently attempted to cross a road hump where he lost control and ran off the road. The car eventually logged into a nearby tree.
Sources told CBA TV that the wounded people were rushed to hospital for treatment. They also confirmed that the VITZ car was travelling from Gabiley to Hargeisa. Security forces arrived at the scene to rescue the victims and to assess the situation.
On several occasions, Somaliland authorities promised that they will manage the growing number of accidents in the country and will hold drivers accountable but the challenge still seems to exist.
