

Unidentified gunmen have killed Mohamed Ahmed (Aflahar), the Ucid party chairman in Lasanod of Sool region in Somaliland. The party confirmed his death in a statement on Monday night. Initial reports reveal the assailants shot dead Aflahaar as he was entering his residence and immediately fled the scene.
UCID Party Chairman Eng. Faisal Ali Warabe and members of the party’s executive committee have sent their condolences to the family and friends of the late Mohamed Ahmed Farah. The party officials described the slain as a “truthful man” who had no fear of disclosing his ideas to the public.
According to the UCID party, Mohamed Ahmed was strongly suggesting that Somaliland government should priortise to find a final solution to the increasing number of assassinations in Las’anod where he eventually died.
The government is yet to make an official statement concerning the incident. However, this is not the first time such crimes have happened in the region. There was a similar incident in the last years where people including government officials were killed.
