Bashe Abdi Gabobe, the internal secretary affairs of UCID party has condemned the killing of a student at Amoud University in Borama. He related the matter as a “misfortunate” act and those behind the killing must be held accountable.
The Political party narrated how important it is for the country’s police to be trained to treat civilians without using live bullets. Baashe Gabobe advised the Police Chief to consider the way police behave towards certain matters.
On Monday, Somaliland police reportedly shot and killed Ibrahim Salad, a 23 year old student at Amoud University in Borama. He was taken to Borama General Hospital for treatment but ultimately succumed to his injuries.
Somaliland Police say the officer who shot Ibrahim is already in custody and that an investigation is underway. Initial reports say Ibrahim Salad had gotten into an altercation with a university police officer before he opened fire.
Some of his students and other regional authorities who spoke to the media have denied reports that Ibrahim was shot dead for wearing a Somalia Flag.
