Hargeisa (Somaliland.com) – Somaliland justice and welfare party called the government’s recently released annual progress video report a deceptive.
The information secretary of UCID party, Yusuf Keyse Abdillahi, said the government’s progress documentary is an empty picture without any substance…
In a press conference at his party headquarters, Yusuf Keyse refuted the government’s claim of completing one hundred and fourteen projects this year. Yusuf Keyse retorted that there is no evidence of those projects and their beneficial impact on the people.
The information secretary of UCID party criticized the government for counting the president’s foreign trips as accomplishments. Yusuf Keyse said the taxpayers would have been better served without those trips. He challenged the government to showcase the value gained from the president’s foreign visits.
To begin with, the president said I have visited the United Arab Emirates, Guinea, Ethiopia, and Djibouti. That is true. You did visit those countries. But the question is what have you returned with from those visits? Those visits cost us a lot. You have traveled in a large entourage. It was expensive. What did we accomplish in Guinea, in Djibouti, in Ethiopia?

In another issue, the UCID official slammed the government for its response to the spread chikungunya fever outbreak in Togdheer region. Yusuf Keyse said the government failed to come to Togdheer’s side in the face of a deadly viral outbreak.
UCID party also hit the government on its human rights record this year. He said the Human rights situation in the country has reached the lowest point ever. He accused the government of normalizing the arbitrary detention of ordinary citizens, journalists, and politicians.
The government said it accomplished one hundred and seventy-four projects. There is no one visible and impactful project among those. Where are those one hundred and fourteen implemented projects?
