The UK Government has announced that it will be locking out all visitors who have visited Somaliland this month from entering England amid fears of the resurgence of Covid-19 in the country. The Head of British office in Hargeisa Staurt Brown declared that from 19 March a Covid travel ban will be in Place for visitors to the UK from Somaliland.
Stuart Brown added that British and Irish Nationals will be permitted entry subject to 10 days managed hotel quarantine. The Somaliland health ministry told the public there is a covid-19 resurgence in the country for the past days and urged the public to follow the health instructions.
On Monday, Somaliland Vice President Abdirahman Saylici affirmed he has tested positive and has been battling with Covid-19 for the past three days. Other Somaliland government officials were also reported to have contracted the pandemic.
Yesterday, The Somaliland ministry of health announced a new health survey in the country due to the resurgence of Covid-19 in the country. The ministry said this survey is expected to discover the degree of covid-19 in Somaliland.
The ministry of health also said the invisible threat to the public is that many citizens are asymptomatic hence show no signs of having contracted the virus.
