The US- trained Somalia National Army commando forces Danab has rejected that they are part of the armed conflict in Las-Anod. Danab Army Chief, Colonel Ahmed Abdillahi Nour “Beer-yare” in a twitter post statement denied that his army is part of the LasAnod armed clashes.
He added that the prime mission Danab forces was trained, prepared and equipped is not to involve in “clan conflicts” but is to fight against terrorism in Somalia.
His statement came a few days after reports revealed the death of Mohamed Adan Suleiman who is believed to be senior commander of Danab. However, the Danab forces chief said Mohamed left from Danab forces in the early of the year 2021 for personal reasons and at the time of his death he was no longer one of Danab Forces and not in a mission task for them.
The Colonel also said that Danab troops will not cross the border and fight in clan wars but their main aim is targeting the “terrorist groups” fighting in Southern Somalia. Somaliland has previously accused Somalia army officials including senior commanders of joining the war in LasAnod which Somaliland believes could escalate the tension between the two countries.
