Somaliland opposition party Waddani has revealed that the only Complete Blood Count (CBC) machine of Sanaag general hospital was stolen. However the opposition party did not publicly mention exactly who looted the machine.
This machine was intended to evaluate a patient’s overall health and detect a wide range of disorders including anemia. It also measures red blood cells, white blood cells and hemoglobin.
Mohamed Saddiq Dhamme, the Social affairs secretary who revealed the information blamed all the crime on the government for neglecting the public property. He stated that a big number of patients in Sanaag will be left untreated after the only CBS Machine in the region was stolen and later on sold to Puntland state of Somalia.
Waddani Party called on the government to immediately publish the names of the suspects and take appropriate action against them. Sadiq Dhamme also underscored that this move will lead the country to lose accountability.
The Somaliland government has not yet responded to these accusations raised by the opposition Party but if this allegation is true it is certain that it will affect thousands of patients in Sanaag region.
