Waddani party in Somaliland has formally finalised its two day general assembly convention in Hargeisa where they have elected the party leaders. There have been proposed amendments of the party’s bylaws, most importantly removing the posts of Interim chairman and the Leader.
The amendments include a minimum required time of membership to hold leadership office from two months to two years. The party officials unanimously approved the amendments and adopted it.
Then the party switched to voting procedure. All the candidates were unopposed. Hirsi Ali Hajji Hassan has been elected as the new Chairman of the party for the next five years. The 55 years old became the second Chairman of WADDANI after his predecessor withdrew from the race.
Milgo Sanbaloolshe, has been elected as the deputy chairperson and that makes her the only female top leader in the political party. Khadar Hussein Abdi has been declared as the winner of Secretary General and will be serving for his second term.
Party officials including Ismail Yare, Abdiqadir Jirde, Barkhad Batuun, Mohamed Saddiq Dhamme have been all awarded medals of recognition for their service to the party.
