Waddani Party slams the Gov’t for detaining Borama local councilors

Hargeisa (Somaliland.com) – Somaliland main opposition party Waddani called for the release of detained Borama local councilors and blamed the government for the deteriorating security situation of the country.

The chairman of the Waddani’s central council Mr. Osman Afgab Nur, argued that the detention of the local councilors illegal and a shameful act.

Speaking to CBA TV, the chairman of the central council of Waddani party, Osman Afgab Nur condemned in strong words the detention of local councilors in Borama.  The three local councilors were arrested last Thursday over allegation of involvement in armed rebel group activities.

 The chairman said the local councilors have legal impunity and cannot be arrested without being caught red-handed in a crime. He considers their detention an affront to the law of the land.

Osman Afgab added that the country is currently facing many internal security challenges in all parts of the country. He blamed the unwillingness of the government to listen to the people with grievances.

The Waddani official urged the public to maintain peace and to safeguard their country. He reminded them that the administration will leave sooner or later, but the nation will last.
