Hargeisa (Somaliland.com) – Youth wing leader of the main opposition party of Somaliland called president Muse Bihi to resign for allegedly failing to uphold the constitution.
In a press conference on Saturday, Mr. Mohamed Siddiq Dhamme urged the president to hand over power to the House of Elders.
Mr. Dhamme was commenting on the recent ban on Hadhwanagnews, a leading local news site that was suspended following a report on corruption allegations against the governor of the central bank. two of the news outlets, reporters were also arrested following the report.
In this regard, the opposition official expressed grave concern over the state of freedom of expression during president Muse Bihi’s term in office. He added that Somaliland is slipping into an oppressive and suppressive rule.
He lamented that the lack of freedom is compelling the youth of Somaliland to flee their country and move to Mogadishu.
