Somaliland’s finance ministry has launched a two-day workshop to increase the business community’s knowledge of taxation. A total number of 25 taxpayers were selected to participate in the exercise.
The aim of the workshop is to serve as a helpful guideline to taxpayers by showing that tax benefits can come in a wide range of forms and may be known by a variety of names. The workshop is also meant to create a much-needed awareness and motivate taxpayers to pay their taxes.
The workshop instructors provided in-depth explanations of the advantages of taxation and how it contributes to the national budget. Ahmed Abdi Ali, one of the instructors, said the main purpose of this training is to be a helpful guideline for the taxpayers.
The beneficiaries expressed deep appreciation for the two days workshop and pledged their commitment to the established guidelines. They also applauded the ministry for organising this workshop for them.
Earlier this month, Somaliland’s Ministry of Finance organised an event attended by the directors of various ministries and autonomous agencies of Somaliland. This meeting examined the responsibilities of the directors in assisting the ministry of finance in raising the national revenue.
