Tunisia is gearing up to host the 5th Mediterranean Water Forum, scheduled for the fifth to seventh of February 2024.
The Mediterranean Water Forum is a platform for Mediterranean countries and organizations, which provides an avenue for expressing local needs and sharing best practices and technologies.
The forum, co-organized by the Tunisian Government, the Mediterranean Water Institute (IME), and the Union for the Mediterranean (UfM), aims to address critical issues surrounding water usage on a global scale, particularly in the face of demographic trends, socio-economic challenges, and the impact of climate change on water management.
This year’s edition is themed “Together for a Shared Water Sobriety,”
The theme revolves around bringing a fresh perspective to water consumption in various sectors, such as agriculture, industry, urban and rural areas, tourism, and nature.
This theme also highlights the interconnectedness of water with other vital areas like food, health, energy, education, and biodiversity.
With the impending 10th World Water Forum in Bali, Indonesia, from 18th to 24th May 2024, the outcomes of this forum is expected to contribute in shaping the agenda and priorities for global discourse on water management and sustainability.
