A powerful explosion occurred at Kilometer Four junction on the road linking the Somalia capital city Mogadishu to its Aden Adde Airport International.
The blast was reported to have occurred yesterday night at 9 PM local time.
The blast killed two persons; one being the security escort to the Director of Somalia’s Immigration and Citizenship Mohamed Aden Jimale Kofe whose car was in traffic on the road at that time and the other person was a civilian hit by mere coincidence.
The explosion which resulted from a landmine is believed to have been targeted at the director. The blast sent a red smoke into the city skyline.
At the time of the blast, the residents of Mogadishu were still very much awake and were occupied with shopping in the busy street.
The security organs in charge of the Somali capital city have yet to give any details about the blast which was heard all over the place.
Police forces have surrounded and barricaded the blast scene as investigations commence.
In this month of October alone, a senior intelligence officer was killed via suicide bombing carried out by a woman. It occurred in the turnarounds of Black Sea and Bar Ubax. The woman approached him while the officer was walking with his bodyguards. One of his security aides was also killed in the explosion alongside with the officer.
Though acts of terror are commonplace in the Somali capital Mogadishu, the security seems to be improving drastically.
Neither Al-Shabab nor any other militant group has laid claim to this recent attack.
