In a strategic move to enhance healthcare collaboration, Uganda’s Ambassador to Turkiye, Nusura Tiperu, spearheaded a meeting with a delegation from Acibadem Healthcare Group, led by Racim Topuz, the Deputy CEO. The purpose of the meeting was to explore and discuss investment opportunities in Uganda’s health sector.
During the session, the Acibadem Healthcare Group showcased a comprehensive profile, featuring a range of services such as mobile healthcare, medical laboratory capabilities, and the construction of medical facilities. Notably, they introduced innovative technologies, including a patient follow-up system, and a remarkable patient history tracking system spanning nearly two decades.
Dr. Charles Ayume, heading the Parliamentary Committee on Health, provided an insightful overview of Uganda’s health sector. He outlined the expectations and requirements for potential investors, emphasizing the significant role such investments could play in advancing Uganda’s healthcare landscape.
The meeting also saw the presence of Uganda’s Honorary Consul in Istanbul, Levent Dervisoglu, underscoring the diplomatic importance of the discussions.
Ambassador Tiperu expressed enthusiasm about the interest shown by both Acibadem Healthcare Group and Atabay Pharmaceuticals, a top-tier pharmaceutical company in Turkiye. Memos have been dispatched to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, signaling the intent to invest in Uganda. The delegation’s visit serves as a follow-up to strengthen these diplomatic and business ties.
Ambassador Tiperu specifically highlighted Atabay Pharmaceuticals’ commitment to investing in Uganda. The company, having undergone a successful inspection by officials from the National Drug Authority, secured the Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) certification. This certification positions Atabay Pharmaceuticals to establish a production line or factory in Uganda, producing medicines accepted not only within the country but also across the region.
This is an amazing experience for Uganda to have these groups, Ambassador Tiperu stated, emphasizing the potential transformative impact of these collaborations on Uganda’s healthcare infrastructure.
As the top management explores Uganda firsthand, the visit signifies a pivotal moment in fostering lasting partnerships between Turkiye and Uganda in the critical realm of healthcare.
